Richard Sterne

One of South Africa’s most talented amateurs, Richard Sterne learned to play the game from his grandmother at the age of four. In 1999, Sterne won the SA Junior Stroke Play and Match Play Championship and the SA Amateur, adding the SA Amateur Stroke Play in 2001. He turned professional in 2001 and since his first triumph at the Open de Madrid, Sterne won five times on the Sunshine Tour and five times in Europe. In 2008 he also won the Sunshine Tour’s Order of Merit.
